But how does one do that ? One might say, the business is the same, so how can I add new content ? Well, the answer is simple. Build a story around the business and create contents around the story. Let's take an example and explain what we mean. Let's say we talk about an imaginary restaurant's website called abcdining.com Now the story they want to sell is new package offers.
The first thing that the website can do is start a blog. Not a separate blog but a blogpage within the website. And then one can add new contents every week. Contents like new promotions, buffet lunches, group dinners, conference menu packages, festival linked promotions, seasonal happy hours and such other things.
The second thing that the site can showcase is new images. Images grab attention faster than written text. So new items, new buffet spreads, success stories can all be part of the refreshed image catalogue. You could upload the images yourself (in case you have a CMS website) or you could ask your website agency to do it for you. Most agencies have annual packages for this sort of a thing. So opt for a pack that suits you and your website will look new and refreshed all the time. Also while adding pictures do not forget to add the alternative text (alt text) for each image. It helps in improving searches.
The third thing that one can do is have new header images or sliders. If you are using static images, it is advisable to keep the imagery as relevant as possible and not necessarily as beautiful. There are restaurant websites with header images showing a telephone operator's pretty face. That kind of a disjunct does not go well with the viewer. For sliders, keep a simple story line, and express your thoughts in 4 to 5 slides. Don't make the viewer wait for too long to get your story.
